I travel for many reasons, I travel to experience, feel and engage with different cultures. Even though I am not travelling to purely tick off every country in the world, I have told myself that I would in my lifetime like to visit at least 100 countries. This will allow me to experience what I think will be life changing and incredible places.
On a trip through the Balkans in June 2018 I entered what was my 50th country. Since then I have continued to travel and despite a pandemic, which made travel more challenging I explored my 72nd country, Nepal in October 2022.
Travel is different things to different people and sometimes it’s not always about ticking a country off as some places need to have more time spent in them to truly experience how incredible they truly are. Unfortunately, due to work and life commitments I am not able to give every country the time that it probably deserves. Instead, I make the most of any time I take off work and explore the parts that really interest me.
Over the next few years I am going to be focussing my attentions on the countries of Europe that have some of the lowest tourist numbers on the continent, Africa and the Middle East. You can see more about my upcoming trips by clicking here.
Living in the UK gives me the perfect base for exploring all corners of the world as a large number of countries are within 5 to 6 hours of flying. With the number of budget airlines that have bases here the cost to travel is very affordable.
Below is a travel map and statistics for my countries visited to date:
36.4% (72) – Worldwide
76.1% (35) – Europe
55.1% (27) – Asia
4.3% (1) – North America)
25% (3) – South America
11.1% (6) – Africa
